India Finishes Asian Games 2026 Campaign With Strong Medal Haul

India has completed its Asian Games 2026 campaign on a high note after a strong late surge across several sports. The Indian contingent finished the Games in fourth place with 85 medals, including 21 gold, 27 silver and 37 bronze medals, according to reports from the final day of competition.

India’s final days at the Games produced several major moments, with gold medals coming across sports including archery, golf, wrestling, cricket and hockey.

Hockey Team Creates History

One of the biggest highlights came from the Indian men’s hockey team, which successfully defended its Asian Games title by defeating Malaysia 5-1 in the final.

The victory secured another Asian Games hockey gold for India and also earned the team qualification for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. India had earlier defeated Pakistan in a closely fought semifinal before producing a dominant performance in the final.

The women’s hockey team also secured gold during the Games, ending a 44-year wait for an Asian Games women’s hockey title.

A Strong Finish

India’s medal rush in the final days helped the country secure fourth place overall. The performances across multiple disciplines highlighted the growing depth of Indian sport.

The Games also provided valuable international experience to younger athletes who could become important members of India’s future sporting teams.

Looking Ahead

With the Asian Games now concluded, attention will shift towards upcoming international events and preparations for the 2028 Olympics.

India’s performance in Aichi-Nagoya will remain an important part of the country’s sporting story as athletes and federations look towards the next major competitions.
